BeIn-BeOut ticketing: how it works

How Flowypass connects boarding, travel and alighting to automatic public transport ticketing.

Ticketing that follows the journey

BeIn-BeOut, often shortened to BIBO, is a ticketing approach that detects a passenger’s presence on board. With Flowypass, an onboard sensor and an enabled compatible app recognise the start and end of the journey without manual check-in or check-out.

Three moments, one journey

When the passenger boards, the system recognises the smartphone through the app. During the ride it can deliver information relevant to the vehicle. When the passenger leaves, it detects the end of the trip, providing the actual route for the application of fare rules.

What the service needs

Adoption requires onboard sensors, app compatibility, ticketing platform integration and agreed service rules. Visiting this website does not activate the service: it must be enabled in a compatible app.

From demonstration to pilot

A demo explores the complete passenger journey. A potential pilot should test boarding and alighting detection, transfers and exception handling in real operating conditions, against criteria agreed with the operator.
